In the morning, standing at the world's first intelligent zero carbon pier, one may enjoy a beautiful view of clear water, blue sky and colorful terminals that add radiance to each other in this intelligent container terminal located in the Beijiang Area C of the Tianjin Port, where 12 automated shore bridges, 76 artificial intelligence robot of transportation(ART), and 42 automated field bridges are operating smoothly.
Tianjin is the largest port city in North China. Its canal transport has thrived ever since the Jin and Yuan dynasties dated back to the 12th century.
In 1973, China's first international container liner route was launched at Tianjin Port. Since then, Tianjin has Created a number of breakthroughs in domestic industry, which further consolidates its special position in China's opening up process.
“Four years ago, this was a saline-alkali beach. Many experts from both China and abroad were skeptical when we said that we would take one year or so to build it into a fully automated terminal with world-class quality. Nowadays, it has been put into use for over a year. All that we can see is a picture of colorful equipment, large and small cargo ships and containers of various colors busily running around.” Said Peng Hao, vice manager of the Tianjin Port Second Container Terminal Company.
In 2022, the annual container through put capacity of Tianjin Port exceeded 21million TEUs. At present, the Tianjin Port has opened 140 container routes and maintained trade contacts with more than 500 ports in over 180 countries and regions in the world.
Tianjin is a city thriving from opening-up. In recent years, it has made the“pilot zone for reform and opening up” as its prior goal of urban development by continuing to enrich port service functions and to improve customs clearance efficiency. It has made progress in the sea, on the land and in the air with upgraded service radiation capacity. And it has displayed a responsible role in maintaining China's basic foreign trade and promoting a high level opening-up.
In August 2022, the border compliance time of import and export at Tianjin Port, according to international standard, was 31 hours and 49.39 hours respectively, significantly reduced by 76.1% and 42.7% compared with 2017.
The continuously optimized business environment has made Tianjin, an important international trading port city, more attractive: from January to October 2022, the total import and export value of Tianjin port reached 1.65 trillion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 24.4%, 13.9 percentage points higher than the national growth rate. Among that, the import of automobiles, frozen goods and aircrafts ranked first in the country. Parallel imported automobiles continued to lead the country, accounting for more than 70% of China's total import, radiating the national parallel imported automobile consumer market.
Jingkai District of Tianjin has been approved as a national import trade promotion innovation demonstration zone, where the Wanglanzhuang International Trade City was approved as a pilot of the national market procurement trade.It takes the lead in realizing B2B export declaration business for foreign trade comprehensive service enterprises in China, implementing export facilitation tax rebate measures for overseas warehouses, and building cross-border e-commerce import and return center warehouses.
