Tianjin sees consumption rebound during Spring Festival holiday
Tianjin's consumption and tourism sectors witnessed a strong rebound during the recently completed Spring Festival holiday, data from the Tianjin Commission of Commerce showed.
During Spring Festival, Tianjin’s 224 major shopping spots witnessed customer numbers rise 40 percent year-on-year to 8.91 million.
They achieved sales of 1.74 billion yuan($256.47 million), a year-on-year increase of 21.2 percent, or a 10.6 percent growth over 2019.
The growth was mainly attributed to 21 department stores and 43 shopping centers, which welcomed 6.75 million visitors and achieved 1.12 billion yuan in revenue.
The shopping outlets rolled out a series of promotional activities to embrace customers’ consumption needs.
Commercial streets, cultural and tourism scenic spots, and sports venues in major commercial districts in Tianjin also launched more than 600 business, travel and cultural activities to attract more tourists from Beijing and Hebei provinces.
