The sixth World Intelligence Congress is to kick off on Friday. With two summits, nearly 30 parallel forums, and an intelligent technology exhibition featuring more than 200 companies, as well as competitions, the two-day online event is expected to help boost the host city, Tianjin, in intelligent technology and high-quality economic and social development, according to the local government.

"Although this WIC is held online, the splendor of the conference, and the importance of the guests and enterprises, as well as the depth of attention and discussion of the congress are no less than previous sessions," said Zhou Shengxi, deputy director of the Tianjin Industrial and Information Technology Bureau.

Combing Tianjin's development goals of"building a city strong in manufacturing" and"building an international consumer center", the event will highlight the city's plans, especially in terms of China's dual carbon goals-peaking carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060-and intelligent manufacturing, Zhou added.

According to the organizers, the congress will hold two summits that are expected to attract more than 20 Chinese and foreign representatives from leading enterprises, experts and scholars. They will participate and discuss hot topics in intelligent technology and the digital economy.

During the congress, a total of nearly 30 forums will focus on the digital economy, dual carbon goals, intelligent manufacturing and the ethics of artificial intelligence.

The online intelligent technology exhibition, running from June 24-30, has attracted 218 high-tech enterprises, including Tencent, Huawei and China Railway Rolling Stock, to take part.

To encourage innovation, the WIC is holding five competitions this year focusing on smart driving, robotics, mobile apps, data processing, and algorithms and sports, according to the congress organizers.

The smart driving competition, to be held this weekend, will have five events with different focuses including intelligent connectivity, information security and smart transportation.

The robotics competition invited contestants from more than 10 countries such as China, Singapore, Egypt, Brazil, Japan and South Korea to compete online.

The algorithms competition pays close attention to application, and will use the actual data of fire protection, urban administration and public security, which is expected to help enhance intelligent management capabilities.

To offer a quality online intelligence experience, the WIC brings the smart facilities of Tianjin Port, the smart city in China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, and the Tianjin intangible cultural heritage protection center"on cloud", allowing visitors to experience Tianjin's achievements in intelligent technology.

In addition, the conference will hold for the first time a selection activity on the excellent applications of intelligent technology innovation.

Starting in February, the activity selected 30 cases for preliminary evaluation worldwide. In the end, the activity will select top 10 applications. They will cover sectors including industrial internet, robotics and energy equipment.
